Buffalo Jesus
has large kind brown eyes
on either side of His enormous shaggy head.
Buffalo Jesus
has horns and cloven hooves
but is the anti-devil; His huge heart
pounds slowly, steadily, with Love.
In all weathers,
Buffalo Jesus is stoic and still.
When you stand before Him,
He is larger than you imagined, powerful and fine.
He speaks:
"From the many: One."
From slaughter and stupidity,
A Savior who sheds his heavy coat in Spring
and lifts His head toward the freshing blue of Heaven.
You, in the brokerage firm,
the mega-church,
the soup kitchen
and the bullet train,
hear this Prophecy:
the plains will thunder again.
I love this. Especially "the plains will thunder again." At Standing Rock, as the militarized police were mobilizing, a hundred buffalo came thundering, in support of the water protectors. "There is a larger landscape than the one we see."
ReplyDeleteYou challenge the stereotypes here with such grace. I love this whole concept. Very well done.

ReplyDeleteI sure as hell hope so ~
ReplyDeleteThis is going to sound stupid, but this (for me) captures the warmth and solidity and comfort of Jesus. I love this.
