It's like wearing a second skin
rough side in
after having dreamed of you last night.
We were weather women, east and west
cursed and blessed
with each the other's brilliant day, killing night.
Decide, the dream demanded, decide!
no vane in sight,
no frost, no thaw, no witch, no bride.
_______
Day 1 of 30 for this.
Oohhhhh... yes. This is fantastic! Weather women. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOooh, that 'rough side in' suddenly subverts where you seemed to be going with the second skin. A very startling image for an expertly unsettling poem with no comforting answer.
ReplyDeleteHow does one decide, though, once and for all? A frosty bit of witchcraft for the first of April.
ReplyDeleteNow, THIS is how you kick off Poetry Month!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! This is spectacular. Speechless. So perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love reading you! I'm sorry it took me so long to come back. I won't leave this time.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, That rough side in. The last line says it all.
ReplyDeleteno frost, no thaw, no witch, no bride....
Stunning, Shay! I love those weather women, cursed and blessed.
ReplyDeleteGlory days
ReplyDeleteWeather women..wow..love it. You had me with the first line.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. As usual.
ReplyDeleteYour imagery is always spot on over the top stunningly breathtaking. I always feel like anything I say falls short. Let me just be silent and stay here for a while.
ReplyDeleteA second skin with the rough side in...somebody misses somebody a lot!
